I love home made gifts - do you? This is my homemade vanilla essence and preserved lemons which I have made for my family this year. I made a batch for myself as well - who wouldn't. I can't wait to try the preserved lemons as I have never had them before. I really enjoyed decorating the table this year and as a last minute idea I placed these beautiful jars of goodness as part of my table decorations. (we had my family Christmas early this year). Each year that it is my turn I try and think of a different theme or colour scheme and I am loving the fresh flowers I purchased from the markets early in the morning. How beautiful are the hydrangeas. If I wasn't so bad at gardening I would grow my own.
Oh so just in case you would like to know what we had to eat (and this is handy for me to write down, because I know I will forget). We had
Chicken breasts stuffed with cranberries, pistachios, macadamia nuts and bacon
Rosemary roasted potatoes
Roasted pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot
Asparagus with a pancetta and lemon sauce
Thyme Gravy (from the juices of the chicken and with my homemade chicken stock)
The best plum pudding ever, that my sister makes every year, with brandy butter (lots of it), cream and ice cream
Choc mint icecream pie for those that don't like plum pudding (crazy!)
Yes it was delicious.....

I have had a fantastic 2013 with my photography, capturing memories for many beautiful families, many gorgeous couples on their wedding day and some absolutely gorgeous food. Who new at the beginning of this year I would have photographed the food for a cookbook? Not me. I am pretty chuffed with what I have achieved this year and look forward to the opportunities around the corner in 2014.
